2025 Holiday - Didge, Beats & Culture

Get ready to join in with live music by clapping and dancing & exploring aboriginal artifacts!

About this Experience

This is a great program if you want to get the children up and dancing and be part of a contemporary music performance with traditional Aboriginal instruments! THE EXPERIENCE: A highly interactive live music / dance experience for the participants, conducted by a highly experienced didgeridoo performer. Participants are introduced to simple rhythm patterns, using body percussion and clap sticks - creating an interactive ‘band’ with everybody joining in. After adding some Aboriginal dance moves, the educator will gradually raise the energy of the performance, joining the band with his didgeridoo and introducing electronic beats. It will most likely end up in a high-energy dance party! This is followed by an interactive introduction of remarkable Aboriginal inventions: didgeridoo, boomerangs and marngrook (possum skin ball), with lots of resources (incl. animal skins) going around for a closer look and feel. WE SUPPLY: CLAP STICKS, AMPLIFICATION, DIDGERIDOOS, ELECTRONIC BEATS, BOOMERANGS, MARNGROOK, SKINS. WE NEED: SUFFICIENT FLOOR SPACE FOR EVERYONE TO DANCE.

Included is a presentation and discussion of the history and the making of didgeridoos, traditional bush food, hunting tools, musical instruments & arts and crafts. Full of crowd participation and dance for Primary School aged children, guaranteed to have you moving and learning in a fun and relatable way.
