About this Experience

Didgeridoo & Aboriginal Culture Stall The Experience: A large, interactive exhibition of authentic artefacts for students to explore Aboriginal cultures. Stall activities will include: - an engaging presentation of the didgeridoo (traditional origin, distribution, how it is made, who plays it, playing styles, imitation of animal sounds, etc.), including live didgeridoo music - an interactive introduction of students to a wide range of authentic Aboriginal artefacts and cultural objects on display: boomerangs, instruments, emu caller, coolamons, digging sticks, spears and spear throwers, various animal skins, emu eggs, ochre, baskets, necklaces, marngrooks (possum skin balls) and more! All objects can be handled by the students for that memorable experience. We supply: 1 educator / performer, a large range of authentic didgeridoos and cultural objects, large pull up banners (Aboriginal flag & pictures of Aboriginal people, illustrating hunting, music, craft and art). We need: A minimum of two large trestle tables to set up the cultural exhibition.

Ganga Giri, world renown didgeridoo performer, will present the didgeridoo - both in words and in live music. After an introduction to how a didgeridoo is made and played Ganga will demonstrate a range of animal sounds and solo rhythms, followed by some of his original music tracks, where he combines the didgeridoo with dynamic, electronic beats - modern tribal music at its best! Included is a presentation and discussion of the history and the making of didgeridoos, traditional bush food, hunting tools, musical instruments & arts and crafts. Full of crowd participation and dance for Primary School aged children, guaranteed to have you moving and learning in a fun and relatable way.
