Storytelling

Explore the traditional ways stories have been shared and passed on for thousands oof years.

About this Experience

The Experience: Explore the traditional ways stories have been shared and passed on for thousands of years - through art, music, movement, and spoken word.  A short Dreaming story will be shared through oral storytelling, helping students understand the importance of listening, memory, and connection to Country as central parts of Aboriginal storytelling traditions. Then, drawing on our activities such as Bunjil & Waa and Boomerang Art students will learn how ochres are made into paint and how symbols are used to tell stories in Aboriginal art. Then as in our  Didgeridoo & Beats activity, they will experience how story is carried through didgeridoo rhythms, animal-inspired movements, and guided dance. Together, these experiences create an engaging overview of how stories are passed on in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.  An immersive and rich method to develop deeper cultural understanding of traditional story telling and passing on. We supply: A wide range of authentic Aboriginal artifacts & large pull up banners with images. We need: Sufficient floor space for all students to sit in a semi-circle. Name tags for the students, if possible. Fee: $550 + GST (per class, max. 45 minutes)
