Song, Dance & Storytelling

Children learn an Aboriginal and a Torres Strait Islander song, traditional
dance moves and creation stories from a First Nation educator.

​THE EXPERIENCE

Barama will teach children to sing an Aboriginal and a Torres Strait Islander song and explain the lyrics and what the songs are about. This is followed by learning about traditional dance where children get to practice some traditional dance moves, including imitations of native animals.

 

Students learn about the world view of Aboriginal people and their deep connection to all living beings and to country through Barama’s storytelling. Inclusion of an interactive Dreamtime story telling session with students. A range of authentic cultural objects are also presented during this experience.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories & Cultures cross-curriculum priorities:

COUNTRY/PLACE: OI.1, OI.2, OI.3.

CULTURE: OI.4, OI.5, OI.6

PEOPLE: OI.7, OI.8 & OI.9.

We supply: One educator, cultural objects, pull up banners.

We need: 

Sufficient floor space for children to dance.

​

Session time: 50 minutes.

​Cost:  $550 + GST (per class, max. 50 minutes)
