Aboriginal Art
A hands-on experience with every student making traditional paint and painting their own boomerang.
About this Experience
The Experience: In the absence of written languages, Aboriginal people used paintings to convey knowledge for thousands of years. Art styles vary greatly across Australia. In this program, students get introduced to a number of Aboriginal symbols, learn how to make their own traditional paint (with ochres, clay and charcoal) and paint a wooden boomerang to take home at the end of the day. We supply: Wooden boomerangs, brushes, ochres and grinding rocks, large banners illustrating Aboriginal symbols and acrylic spray to seal the finished artwork. We need: Tables and chairs set up for 4-6 students per table. Easy access to a sink to clean resources between the sessions. Fee: $650 + GST (per class, max. 60 minutes)
